Bali Fast Boat Dolphin Cruise 2 Overturned, Minister Of Transportation Asks For Accelerated Handling

JAKARTA - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi asked for the handling of the fast boat accident or Fastboat Bali Dolphin Cruise 2 which overturned at the entrance to Sanur Port to be carried out quickly.

For your information, based on the Benoa Class II KSOP report, the accident occurred on Tuesday, at 15.15 WITA.

"We express our condolences and regret for the disaster of the overturning of the Bali Fastboat Dolphin Cruise 2 in the entrance to the Port of Sanur, Bali. On behalf of the government, we apologize and will conduct quick handling and evaluation of this incident," said Dudy in an official statement, Wednesday, August 6.

Dudy said the Bali Dolphin Cruise 2 fast boat was carrying 75 passengers and five crew members (ABK) reportedly departed from Nusa Penida Port at around 14.30 WITA to Sanur Harbor. During the voyage, the sea waves were safe and the wind was blowing not too strong.

When the ship was about to enter the entrance flow of Sanur Port at 15.10 WITA and had passed the red and green flare buoys, the captain worked out to move his left side or turn the wheel of the ship to the left into the dock.

"At that time suddenly the waves hit the left hull of the ship, causing the ship to overturn immediately," he said.

After the incident, continued Dudy, 73 passengers and four crew members were successfully evacuated to Bali Mandara Hospital and BMCC. Meanwhile, two passengers were found dead and until Tuesday night one crew member was still in the process of being searched by the Joint SAR Team.

The SAR teams on duty consist of KSOP Benoa, UPP Nusa Penida, Basarnas Denpasar, TNI AL, Dit Polairud Polda Bali, and BNPB Denpasar Region.

"Regarding this incident, the navinational warning has also been issued to prevent marine accidents and maintain shipping security," he said.
