Melayat Mendiang Kwik Kian Gie, Prabowo: He Is A Nation's Leader Who Really Serves

President Prabowo Subianto expressed his deep condolences for the death of a senior economist and national figure, Kwik Kian Gie.

Prabowo revealed that he had a personal close relationship with the deceased because he often gave advice and input.

In fact, a few days before his death, Kwik had sent a message via WhatsApp (WA). This was revealed when the president visited the Sentosa Funeral Home of Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 30.

"I felt close to him. He gave me a lot of advice. Even a few days ago, he sent WA with advice. He still gave WA. We are Indonesia's loss of the best son," Prabowo said in a statement quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel.

Prabowo considered Kwik as a very meritorious figure for the Indonesian people. Kwik Kian Gie is known as one of the economic thinkers who consistently fights for the people's economic system based on the constitution, especially Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.

"I came to respect, condolences. Mr. Kwik is a very meritorious national figure. His thoughts are very much on maintaining the Pancasila economy, the economy of Article 33. He is an extraordinary figure," said the president.

Kwik Kian Gie served as Coordinating Minister for Economic, Finance and Industry (Menko Ekuin) for the 1999-2000 period.

Then occupied the position of Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Bappenas in 2001-2004, and served as Deputy Chair of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) in 1999.
