The Red And White Kopdes Will Be Included In This Year's Cooperative Law

Minister of Cooperatives (Menko) Budi Arie seeks that the Red and White Village Cooperatives (Kopdes) institution can be recognized by the new Cooperative Law (UU).

"If it's the Cooperative Law, we can try to get the Red and White Kopdes program to be recognized by the Cooperative Law," he said at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 29.

Budi targets the Red and White Kopdes to be contained as soon as possible in the new and can be completed Cooperative Law this year.

"We are trying (to be regulated in the Cooperative Law) because the role of the state is to resognize, affirm and protect. As soon as possible this year," he said.

Previously, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives (Wamenkop) Ferry Juliantono suggested that there be a special section that discussed the existence of the Red and White Village/Sub-District Cooperative (Kopdes/Kel) in the new cooperative Law which is still under discussion at the DPR RI.

"In fact, the name of the law that fits the current conditions is the National Cooperative System Law, not the Cooperative Law," he said in a statement to the media, Thursday, July 17.

The reason, continued Ferry, is that on the way to the future the Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih will involve and integrate many elements, outside of 18 ministries and institutions that have been involved from the start.

"That way, the Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih can have strength in accordance with our constitution, in order to enter strategic sectors such as industry, distribution, and so on," explained Ferry.

Currently, according to him, the proposal has been included in the technocratic proposal.

"It is also closely related to the proposal for the Red and White Kopdes/Kel to be included in the National Strategic Program or PSN," said Ferry.

Sekadar informasi, revisi UU Perkoperasian telah masuk ke Badan Legislasi DPR RI. Permintaan untuk merevisi aturan tersebut sebetulnya sudah sempat disampaikan sejak era pemerintahan Presiden ke-7 Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Namun dalam perjalanannya tidak rampung di era Jokowi. Kementerian Koperasi dan UKM (Kemenkop UKM) yang dipimpin Teten Masduki menyerahkan tongkat estafet revisi UU perkoperasian kepada pemerintahan baru yang dipimpin Presiden Prabowo Subianto.
