JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) targets oil produced from people's wells to be sold to oil and gas companies such as Pertamina, as of August 1, 2025.

"As of August 1, hopefully we can monetize the production of this community well to Pertamina," said Deputy Exploitation of SKK Migas Taufan Marhaendrajana as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 22.

Taufan estimates that production from community wells will increase national oil lifting by around 10,000'15.000 barrels per day (bpd).

However, he hopes that the realization can exceed that figure, because Indonesia is currently implementing a sense of crisis.

The crisis situation he is referring to is domestic oil production which is targeted to reach 605,000 bpd, as stated in the 2025 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) target.

Moreover, he said, the targeted one million barrels of oil per day that is targeted can be achieved by 2029'30.

"We need to achieve self-sufficiency in energy. The things related to it are how the production of people's wells can become assets or parts of the country," said Taufan.

He conveyed that Pertamina had prepared internal procedures regarding people's wells, which not only needed to be bought for oil, but also provided guidance.

"Of course what is no less important is verification," he said.

Taufan hopes that people's wells, through the issuance of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 14 of 2025 concerning Cooperation in Management of the Working Area for Increasing Oil and Gas Production, can boost national oil lifting.

These regulations open space for Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD), cooperatives, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to play a role in managing marginal wells while still upholding the principles of safety, sustainability, and good governance.

"Indeed, there are homework and challenges that are very tough, but we can still do it," said Taufan.
