JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is targeting the construction of 2,200 kitchens of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) this year, as part of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG).
This was reflected after the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, met with the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana to follow up on the Memorandum of Understanding or MoU which was signed in March 2025.
Dody said that his party plays an important role in supporting President Prabowo Subianto's program through the provision of basic infrastructure, such as the SPPG kitchen which will be spread across various parts of Indonesia.
"The construction of the MBG kitchen is a shared responsibility. The Ministry of Public Works is ready in terms of infrastructure so that this program can run quickly and evenly throughout Indonesia," said Dody as quoted from his official statement, Thursday, July 17.
According to Dody, his party and BGN plan to form a technical coordination team to draw up concrete steps towards full implementation.
"With a construction target of 2,200 SPPG kitchens that will be ready for use in 2025," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana added, solid infrastructure is the key to the success of distributing nutritious food to students.

Dadan assessed that later the construction of the SPPG would be prioritized in the 3T area, namely lagging behind, leading and outermost. "The plan is to manage the MBG kitchen with a self-management scheme," he said.
The PU Ministry's support for the construction of the MBG kitchen is also in line with the PU's 608 vision, which is to reduce ICOR below 6, reduce poverty by 0 percent and encourage national economic growth by 8 percent.
The construction of the MBG kitchen has the potential to create jobs at the local level, strengthen the supply chain of foodstuffs, and have a direct economic impact on the surrounding community.
