KAI Commuter Serves 166.4 Million Jabodetabek KRL Users In Semester I-2025

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI Commuter recorded a volume of Jabodetabek Commuter Line users of 166,432,692 people during the first semester of 2025. This figure increased 6.13 percent compared to the previous year.

The realization of Jabodetabek KRL users is also 22.56 percent higher than the first semester of 2023 which was recorded at 135,793,399 people.

KAI Commuter President Director, Asdo Artriviyanto said this increase occurred amid fleet limitations, as well as the crisis experienced from the second semester of 2024 to the first semester of 2025.

Asdo explained that this crisis was caused by many of the KAI Commuter's fleets entering a period of conservation or retirement. In 2023, there were 10 train sets or trainsets, with 12 carriages. Meanwhile, in 2024, there were 19 trainsets recorded.

Furthermore, Asdo said that his party anticipates the shortage of the fleet by recompositioning additional travel frequencies. The goal is to maintain a waiting time or headway of 3 to 5 minutes for the Bogor Cross, 8 to 10 minutes for the Cikarang Cross and 10 minutes for the Rangkasbitung Cross.

"In the limited fleet, but with the pattern of operations that we improve, it is better for us to still be able to carry passengers higher, or 6.13 percent," he said in a statement.

Asdo said the increase in passenger volume was supported by the implementation of the Train Travel Graphic (Gapeka) only starting February 2025.

In Gapeka 2025, KAI Commuter operates 1,063 Jabodetabek Commuter Line trips per day, or 15 more trips than Gapeka 2023 previously, which is 1,048 trips.

In June 2025, in the Jabodetabek area, Bogor Station is the most volume departure station, which is 1,530,425 people. Then, followed by Tanah Abang Station as many as 1,278,052 people, and Sudirman Station as many as 1,015,771 people.

Meanwhile, the stations with the most users are Bogor Station with 1,519,737 people, Tanah Abang Station (1,193,887 people), and Sudirman Station (1,032,704 people).

Throughout the first semester of 2025, KAI Commuter also recorded an average transit volume at Manggarai Station of 160,000 to 162,000 people per day, at Tanah Abang Station there were 130,000 people recorded and at Duri Station an average of 70,000 people per day.

Meanwhile, at the Commuter Line Merak service, during the first semester, 2,206,671 users recorded a volume of 4,77 percent higher than the same period in 2024 yesterday, which was 2,106,275 people.

Meanwhile, at the Commuter Line Basoetta service, in the first semester of 2025, there was a volume of 2,164,050 users, or 3 percent smaller than last year's period of 1,098,596 people.

"One of these achievements is supported by the performance of optimizing the reliability of facilities," he said.
