Deputy Of Commission VII DPR Regarding E-commerce Traders Subject To Taxes: Serious Study Needs

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI Chusnunia assessed that the government's plan to apply tax collection to traders or micro, small and medium enterprises in e-commerce requires a more in-depth study.

Chusnia said this was necessary because MSMEs were one of the main backbones for the Indonesian economy.

"Of course, a serious study is needed on this matter. What we need to understand together is that the business continuity of MSME actors, especially post-pandemic, is something that needs to be grateful for and needs to be maintained with wise policies," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 10.

He assessed that the implementation of new taxes for MSME actors is feared to pose new challenges.

"Of course, this needs to be reviewed in the midst of a difficult economic situation, all parties need to exercise restraint," he said.

Agreeing, member of Commission VII DPR RI Novita Hardini and Rahayu Saraswati also said that the government's plan to collect taxes must be reviewed and involved the aspirations of MSME actors, so that the regulations are in favor of local businesses.

"This will certainly be a note and evaluation material, the thing we have to emphasize is how we support our local products without harming them," said Rahayu.

Previously, the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) prepared a draft income tax collection (PPh) article 22 for traders in e-commerce.

The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance explained that the plan to appoint a marketplace as a collection of PPh 22 for merchant transactions in Electronic Systems (PMSE) basically regulates shifts (shifting).

If previously the PPh payment mechanism was carried out independently by online traders, it would be changed to a tax collection system carried out by the local market as the appointed party.
