BEKASI - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) will spend a budget of IDR 20 trillion for the construction of the Phase II People's School (SR). The plan is for the construction of the Phase II People's School to be carried out in 100 locations throughout Indonesia.
PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said the construction of one People's School required a budget of around 100 billion.
"Phase II, which depends on the area of 100 locations, yes. If the area is around 5.5 (hectares) we may (disburse a budget) a total of around Rp. 200 billion, yes, all in, including furniture and so on," said Dody to reporters after visiting the People's School at the Pangudi Luhur Integrated Center, Bekasi, West Java, Monday, July 7.
According to Dody, the construction of the Phase II People's School will begin in September 2025.
"Later we will start to build gradually from September 2025 to June 2026, so that July 2026 in new school years can be fully operationalized," he said.
He said the construction of the People's School was a collaboration between the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) and the local government.

Meanwhile, for stage 1, the Ministry of Public Works is working on the renovation of 100 People's Schools with a budget of around Rp. 1.2 trillion.

The first phase of the People's School is planned to start accepting students in July 2025.
