JAKARTA - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk or WIKA is ready to work on two strategic projects for the rehabilitation of irrigation networks in Jambi and North Kalimantan Provinces as part of the Ministry of Agriculture's Land Optimization Program (Oplah).
WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito said this project reflects the confidence in the company's capabilities in presenting solutions in agricultural infrastructure.
"This project is a form of active WIKA's participation in supporting food security through sustainable irrigation development," Agung said in a statement in Jakarta, Friday.
Agung said, as the government's strategic partner in building Indonesia, WIKA is committed to carrying out projects optimally by upholding the quality, safety of work, and timeliness.
These two projects are a follow-up to Presidential Instruction Number 2 of 2025 and Decree of the Minister of Public Works Number 444/KPTS/M/2025 which regulates the acceleration of the implementation of irrigation rehabilitation in the area of local government authority.
In Jambi Province, WIKA is believed to be working on the rehabilitation of an irrigation network covering an area of 13,867 hectares, with a scope of work covering 190 kilometers of soil excavation and repairing 44 irrigation building units.
The target for carrying out work is 110 calendar days, with supervision from the Sumatra VI River Basin Center.
Meanwhile, in North Kalimantan Province, WIKA is carrying out the rehabilitation of irrigation networks covering an area of 1,886 hectares.
The work includes channel normalization, floodgate rehabilitation, and repairing stone pair channels.
This project began work in June 2025 with supervision from the Kalimantan V River Basin Center.
The presence of more reliable irrigation infrastructure in these two regions is expected to strengthen the irrigation system, support sustainable agriculture, and improve the welfare of farmers.
