Dedi Mulyadi Will Involve Marine Units To Guard River Banks In West Java

Governor of West Java (Jabar) Dedi Mulyadi will involve marine units to guard riverbanks after river revitalization is carried out.

Meanwhile, in the revitalization stage, the man who is akrap called Kang Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) will first dismantle the houses located on the banks of rivers throughout West Java Province, then replace them by planting coconut trees.

"This perspective encourages us to continue to make improvements, re-dismantling buildings along the riverbanks throughout West Java Province (later) planting coconut trees and in the future it will be guarded by marine units," said KDM in his remarks at the Talkshow Media agenda regarding the Support for Tambak Pantura Revitalization Program Plan at his office, Wednesday, June 25.

According to Dedi, riverbank revitalization is very important to restore marine glory as a source of life and beauty.

Unfortunately, the mindset of people who have now shifted and consider land protection to be more important than the sea, has built many houses along the river, disposing of household waste to industrial waste into rivers.

In fact, garbage and waste dumped into the river will lead to the sea and cause chaos in the waters.

"This is a way to restore the glory of our land and our sea. Upstream is experiencing sedimentation problems, illegal logging, changing forest areas into vegetable gardens, giving birth to chunks of soil continuing to dredge the river, which in turn becomes a problem at the estuary," he said.

KDM menjelaskan, sedimentasi sungai yang kian tinggi, pada akhirnya mempercepat pendangkalan aliran sungai.

Untuk menghindari bencana banjir, sungai harus dikeruk dan dibutuhkan biaya besar saat ingin revitalisasi.

"Problematika ini harus diselesaikan dan saya menargetkan dalam dua tahun tidak ada lagi bangunan liar di sungai Jawa Barat, tidak ada lagi sertifikat tanah di daerah sungai, tidak ada lagi pendangkalan muara," tutur KDM.

"Yang berikutnya adalah aliran sampah. Problematika pengelolaan sampah di hulu itu berdampak pada mudahnya orang mengalirkan sampah ke sungai, baik sampah rumah tangga maupun sampah yang dikoleksi dalam sebuah rumah tangga, yang pada akhirnya laut itu menjadi kumpulan dosa. Karena laut menjadi kumpulan dosa, maka laut mengalami problem lagi," tambah dia.

KDM explained that the sedimentation of the river, which is getting higher, ultimately accelerated the silting of the river.

To avoid flooding, rivers must be dredged and large costs are needed when they want to revitalize.

"This program must be completed and I am targeting that in two years there will be no more illegal buildings in the West Java river, no more land certificates in the river area, no more estuary silting," said KDM.

"The next thing is the flow of garbage. The problem with waste management upstream has an easy impact on people draining garbage into rivers, both household waste and garbage collected in a household, which in the end the sea becomes a collection of sins. Because the sea is a collection of sins, the sea is experiencing problems again," he added.
