JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) said that the progress of the construction of the Semarang Toll Road "Demak Section 1 which connects Kaligawe to Sayung has reached a physical progress of 44.26 percent until 12 June 2025.
The 10.64 kilometer toll road built above sea is part of an integrated project with the sea embankment or Giant Sea Wall (GSW) which aims to reduce tidal flooding in the coastal areas of Semarang and its surroundings.
PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said this integration is expected to be a permanent solution to the tidal flood problem in the Semarang area, especially on the Semarang Pantura Line "Demak".
"This toll road reduces the traffic burden on Jalan Pantura Jawa which is already very congested and often experiences congestion," said Dody in his official statement, Tuesday, June 17.
The construction of the toll road is divided into three work packages, namely package 1A with service providers PT Hutama Karya (HK) and Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) whose physical progress has reached 65.92 percent.
Then, Package 1B was carried out by PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP), PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) with a progress of 42.97 percent and Package 1C by Adhi Karya-Sinohydro with a progress of 22.77 percent.
Overall, the Semarang 'Demak Toll Road has a total length of 26.95 kilometers built in 2 sections, namely Section 1 Kaligawe' Sayung with a length of 10.64 kilometers above sea and Section 2 of the Sayung'Demak section 16.31 kilometers on land and has been operating since February 25, 2023.
In addition to toll projects, the Ministry of Public Works is also completing the construction of the Phase 1 Sringin Tenggang flood control system.
