Official Registration Closed, KKP Receives 910 Proposals For Submission Of Red And White Fishermen's Villages

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has received 910 proposals for the submission of the Red and White Fishing Village (KNMP) from various coastal areas and fishing villages in Indonesia. The KKP has closed the registration of the KNMP proposal on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

"As of yesterday, we officially closed the registration of the KNMP program. The extraordinary enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the local government and the community as evidence of the KNMP Program is common hope," said Special Staff to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for Public Relations and Public Communications Doni Ismanto in a written statement, Thursday, June 5.

It is known, the KKP targets the construction of 100 KNMPs in various regions, of which 80 percent of the population is fishermen or fishery cultivators.

Doni said the government disbursed funds of around Rp. 22 billion for each construction site. "With this program, the traditional coastal areas and aquaculture villages will be transformed into integrated fisheries areas," he said.

For coastal areas, Doni said, dock infrastructure will be prepared, ice factories, cold storage, culinary centers, marine supplies kiosks to training centers as a means to improve the competence of the local community.

Meanwhile, in the cultivation village, infrastructure will be prepared to support modern and sustainable cultivation activities. Later, at each construction site, it will be ensured that there is a wastewater management installation (IPAL) so that production activities do not pollute the surrounding environment.

"Because it is from a strong village, a great future was born," Doni explained.

Meanwhile, Expert Staff to the Minister for Economic, Social and Cultivation, Trian Yunanda, said that his party was preparing regulations that became the legal basis for implementing the KNMP program.

The speed and accuracy of this program is important to support the welfare of fishing communities and cultivators, as has been running in Samber Binyeri Village, Biak Numfor Regency, Papua.

Trian explained that currently his party is conducting a selection of 100 leading locations that can be built by KNMP this year.

Then, he said, his party is also preparing a pre-designed picture of planning & preparation for a survey of 100 locations which is expected to be completed by the end of June.

"All incoming proposals will be the initial database for the development plan of 1,100 KNMP until 2027," he said.
