JAKARTA - Indonesia commemorates National Hometime every May 27, as a form of appreciation for the legacy of traditional medicine that has passed down for thousands of years.

This year, PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) also enlivened the moment through a talk show themed "Jamu Maintains Tradition, Unites Generation", at the BPOM RI Building, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 27.

Director of PT Sido Muncul, Dr. (HC) Irwan Hidayat, was present as a speaker with the Head of BPOM RI, dr. Taruna Ikrar, M.Biomed., MD., Ph.D., as well as young musician as well as Brand Ambassador Sido Muncul, El Rumi.

This activity is the peak of the 2025 Herbal Medicine Week organized by BPOM RI to increase public understanding, especially the younger generation, regarding the benefits of herbal medicine.

Irwan Hidayat stated that now the herbal medicine is increasingly in demand by the younger generation thanks to flavor innovation, modern packaging and quality assurance.

"To attract Gen Z, we need good herbal medicine, easy to drink, but most importantly still quality. In Sido Muncul, our principles are quality, quality, and quality," he said.

Sido Muncul also emphasized his commitment through a rigorous production process with six screening stages, including pesticide tests, heavy metals, to EG/DEG-free.

For its dedication, this company received an award from BPOM RI as an Appointing Company for Jamu Image in Kancah Internasional.

Irwan hopes that, through proper education and collaboration, more and more young people will see herbal medicine not only as a traditional drink, but also a healthy lifestyle that makes Indonesia proud.

Previously, throughout May 19, 2025, BPOM had organized various activities as a series of Jamu Weeks, including the Creative Content Competition, Webinar "Unlock The Market" with the topic of your Product Registration in the Right Way, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of Indonesia's Natural Cosmetic Strengthening, and Webinars Bisa UMKM (Bincang-Bincang Bersama UMKM).

BPOM also held a Near BPOM (BPOM for Integrated Consultation Desk), where business actors can consult with public service officers at the Deputy for Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics. This herbal medicine week activity has been followed and utilized by approximately 265 business actors in the field of Natural Medicines.
