JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said the budget for the construction of phases I and II People's Schools reached Rp. 10 trillion.

Dody explained that the budget for the construction of the People's School made by President Prabowo Subianto came from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) of the Ministry of Public Works.

"For (development) of the People's School stages I and II, a total of Rp. 10 trillion. However, maybe not all of this year will be prepared because, right, there are only two hands," said Dody to reporters at his office, Monday, May 26.

He said that currently his party is pursuing the construction of the Phase I People's School which is scheduled to be completed in July and start operating. The first phase of development consists of phase IA and stage I-B with a total of 64 schools throughout the country.

"Phase II, the target must be completed in June 2026. We are now pursuing phase I so that July 2025 can really be used. The total was 64 (schools) stages I-A and 30 stages I-B," he said.

In addition, said Dody, President Prabowo targets the construction of 100-200 units of People's Schools every year for the next three years.

Although the People's School development budget comes from the Ministry of Public Works, he continued, the program supervisor is the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).

"Every year it is 100 to 200 (units) for 3 consecutive years, so the hope is that each district has one People's School," explained Dody.

Previously, Dody ensured that phase I management for 100 People's Schools would be completed this year. At least 65 People's Schools will be completed in early July.

"From the 100 People's Schools phase I, as many as 65 schools have started light to moderate renovation work since last week. God willing, these 65 schools can be completed in early July," said Dody at the Coordination Meeting of the Ministerial Level of Infrastructure and Infrastructure of the People's School Network at the Ministry of Social Affairs office, Jakarta, as quoted from his official statement, Tuesday, May 20.

This Democratic Party cadre detailed that as many as 65 People's Schools that have been handled include 13 schools in Sumatra, 34 schools in Java, three schools in Kalimantan, eight (8) schools in Sulawesi, three (3) schools in Bali/Nusa Tenggara, two (2) schools in North Maluku and two (2) schools in Papua.

As for the other 35 schools, said Dody, his party is still conducting a survey to the proposed location. He targets that the People's School renovation work will be completed in September 2025.

"For the 35 schools the target is to finish in September 2025, but we will try to finish it in July or August," he said.
