JAKARTA - The national airline Garuda Indonesia is considering taking over a Boeing plane returned by China due to a trade war with the United States (US).

Garuda Indonesia Commercial Director Ade R. Susardi said his party would certainly explore the addition of aircraft. One of them, he said, is if there is the potential to acquire the aircraft returned by China.

"If there is (the unit), we will definitely (buy it) immediately. (We do) exploring everything," he said when met at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 7.

For your information, Garuda Indonesia targets to operate at least 100 aircraft units by the end of the year. So far, Garuda operates as many as 77 aircraft consisting of Airbus and Boeing models.

However, of the total aircraft operated, 15 of them are reportedly in the process of being detained or grounded for treatment.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi opened up opportunities for Indonesian airlines who want to have a Boeing aircraft resulting from China's return to the United States (US).

"It is possible, it is certain to be possible. It turns out that Airline really needs it, then the available aircraft, the price is right and so on, why not," he said when met at the DPR Building, Jakarta, written Thursday, April 24.

Dudy said that his party gave it entirely to the airline. Even so, according to him, this opportunity is good to increase the number of planes in Indonesia, especially if the price is also affordable.

"We leave it to the airline. If Airline sees that with their condition they can bring in a plane, or take advantage of the situation, it might be good because we still need more planes," he said.
