JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung made a working visit to Karawang Regency, this visit was part of an effort to strengthen cooperation between regions and ensure the availability of rice supplies for Jakarta residents.
This visit also aims to increase the synergy of programs between local governments, both in the form of government to Government (G2G) and Business to Business (B2B) cooperation. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and Karawang Regent Aep Syaepuloh carried out a joint rice harvest activity in Kutawargi, Karawang, West Java, Tuesday, May 6.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said that activities in order to strengthen rice supply to Jakarta through the 2025 Contract Farming Program are the right thing because apart from being close to Jakarta, Karawang with an agricultural area of 87,000-88,000 hectares is the main rice producer center in West Java. Moreover, don't forget that Karawang has an inseparable history in the history of the movement of independence and also the struggles in Jakarta.
Pramono said this collaboration is also to ensure the continuity of rice supply for Jakarta, which only has about 400 hectares of agricultural land, far below the daily needs of around 2,500 tons of rice.
"Specifically, I express my gratitude and joy to Kang Aep as the Regent of Karawang, because with a very minimal area of agricultural land, it is impossible for Jakarta with 11 million people to meet its food needs without collaborating with the surrounding agricultural production center, one of which includes Karawang. The Jakarta Provincial Government must carry out productive, mutually beneficial cooperation, with the regional governments producing one of them being Karawang," Pramono said in his remarks.
According to Pramono, which is no less important is that this collaboration must provide positive value for all parties. Because according to him, it is useless if this cooperation does not have an impact and benefit for the surrounding community.
"What is no less important is how through this collaboration, Jakarta and Karawang can grow together. Therefore, I ask the Managing Director of Food Station so that the area of cooperation is increased from 600 hectares to 6,000 hectares if necessary. Hopefully this collaboration will provide the benefits of the entrepreneurship of farmers to increase because with cellphones Rp6,500-7,000, extraordinary and this price in the last 6 months has been relatively stable," explained Pramono.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Karawang Aep Syaepuloh emphasized that he ensured that Karawang was ready to increase the scale of cooperation. He also welcomed the cooperation between the two regions.
"We have a production target of 1.4 million tons of dry unhulled rice by 2025. If the Governor of DKI asks for more, we are ready," he said.
In addition to marking the Memorandum of Understanding on the working visit, a joint harvest activity was carried out on an area of 1 hectare from 150 hectares in collaboration with PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda), one of the Food BUMDs owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, with the Pandawa Producers Cooperative Putra Tani and delivery of 20 (twenty) tons of agricultural products to the Food Station factory located in Subang.
"This joint harvest is a concrete effort of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Food Station to maintain supply stability and food prices, especially in DKI Jakarta. Today, 20 tons of harvest will also be sent to our factory, which is located in Pamanukan, Subang, and then packaged into premium rice with the FS brand," said Gunarso Employee Food Station President Director.

"We would like to thank the Governor of DKI Jakarta and the West Java Government for the assistance of production facilities, this is very helpful and useful to support our productivity of farmers, besides the presence of the Food Station, we also don't need to worry about where we will sell the harvest, so we just need to focus on carrying out agricultural activities," said Dayat, a farmer fostered by the Pandawa Producers Cooperative. Putra Tani.
In 2025, Food Station has a target to cooperate with contract farming on land with a total area of 8,000 hectares spread across West Java, Central Java and East Java.
