Interest In Saving The Community In April Strengthens. LPS Gives An Explanation

JAKARTA - The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) noted that the Consumer Saving Index (IMK) in April 2025 was at the level of 83.4, strengthening 5.1 points from the previous month's position.

This is in line with the increase in the Saving Time Index (IWM) component by 7.6 points in the same period to the level of 94.6 and the Savings Intensity Index (IIM) which grew 2.7 points to the level of 72.2. Regarding the IIM component, 29.3 percent of the LPS Consumer and Economic Survey (SKP) respondents stated that they had never saved.

LPS Secretary Jimmy Ardianto explained, this figure is lower than 31.9 percent of respondents who never saved in March 2025.

Furthermore, there was a decrease in the percentage of respondents who considered that the value saved was smaller than planned, from 53.7 percent of respondents in March 2025 to 49.1 percent of respondents in April 2025.

"Regarding the IWM component, the percentage of respondents who considered that now is the right time to save was recorded to increase to 27.9 percent in April 2025, from 24.8 percent in March 2025," he said, Monday, May 5.

In line with this, the percentage of respondents who stated that the next three months is the right time to save increased, to 42.3 percent from 38.9 percent in the same period. This development indicates plans and the intensity of saving consumers who return to normal after Eid al-Fitr.

Furthermore, the movement of the IMK in some household income groups (RT) tends to strengthen in April 2025. The largest increase in the IMK is seen in the RT-income group above Rp1.5 million-Rp3 million/month (up 8.8 points) and the RT-income up to Rp1.5 million/month (up 7.2 points).

In line with the previous two groups, the RT group IMK with revenues above Rp. 3 million-Rp. 7 million recorded an increase (up 6.0 points). Especially for the RT group with revenues above Rp. 7 million/month, the IMK has decreased slightly (down 1.0 points), but remains consistent above level 100.
