JAKARTA - The Bentung Palembang Toll Road Project with a total length of 69.19 kilometers has reached construction progress of 56.15 percent to date.

The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, also had the opportunity to directly review the toll road project by PT Hutama Karya (Persero) on Friday, May 2.

It is known that the main work that has been completed includes the construction of a 34.7 kilometer main road, 1 Simpang Susun, the Kramasan Bridge with a length of 1.15 kilometers and a bridge short of the Musi V Bridge with a length of 1.08 kilometers.

Meanwhile, Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim said, Hutama Karya will complete the construction of the Balai Rengas Section at the end of 2025, while the construction of the Musi bridge and Kramasan Section is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.

"With the progress of continuing to increase and full support from the government, this project is expected to operate immediately and support the government's vision of realizing equitable development outside Java," he said.

According to Adjib, the Palembang 'Betung Toll Road is designed with high quality standards, has two lanes with a plan speed of 100 km/hour and is equipped with supporting facilities such as rest areas to maximize the comfort of road users.

He added that the construction of the toll road will provide three main benefits, namely cutting Palembang's travel time significantly from about three hours to one hour, increasing logistics distribution efficiency which has an impact on reducing transportation costs and spurring regional economic growth and equitable development in South Sumatra.

"The presence of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road will be the backbone of new economic growth and will open up better access for the people of South Sumatra," he concluded.
