KAI Supports DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Policy Mandatory ASN To Take Public Transportation

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI welcomes and fully supports the steps taken by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) which requires state civil servants (ASN) to use public transportation.

This policy is in accordance with Governor's Instruction No. 6 of 2025 concerning the Use of Mass General Transportation for Employees within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government every Wednesday.

These instructions require all ASN at various levels of government, ranging from regional secretariats, agencies, to village heads, to use public transportation modes when departing and returning from work.

In the Governor's Instruction No. 6 of 2025 also clarifies the types of mass public transportation that can be used, including services from KAI Group such as the Jabodebek LRT, Jabodetabek Commuter Line, and Basoetta Commuter Line (Soekarno-Hatta Airport).

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba stated that KAI Group is ready to fully support this policy through the provision of public transportation services that are safe, comfortable, and affordable for the entire community, including ASN.

According to Anne, this policy is an important part of efforts to create more sustainable and environmentally friendly urban mobility.

To support this policy, KAI Group provides alternative public transportation that is safe, comfortable, and affordable. We also optimize various facilities such as CCTV analytics for security, disability-friendly services, to bicycle parking areas at stations to support easy user access," said Anne in an official statement, Wednesday, October 30.

Anne said the Jabodetabek Commuter Line is currently one of the backbones of the movement of people in the Jakarta area and its surroundings. Based on KAI Group data, from January 1 to April 24, 2025, Commuter Line has served 103,352,809 customers, with an average daily volume of 1 million customers.

"With a wide rail network, high travel frequency, and ease of intermodal connection, Commuter Line is ready to be the main choice for ASN in implementing this policy," said Anne.

Apart from Commuter Line, the Jabodebek LRT also recorded significant growth in user interest. On the moment of National Transportation Day on April 24, 2025 yesterday, the Jabodebek LRT recorded the highest record in its operational history, with 103,582 users in one day.

This achievement confirms public confidence in rail-based public transportation presented by KAI Group. The Jabodebek LRT offers modern services with advantages such as special spaces with disabilities, lactation spaces, easy station access, and the latest technology-based security system.

Anne added that the use of public transportation such as Commuter Line and Jabodebek LRT not only increases urban mobility, but also significantly contributes to reducing congestion and suppressing carbon emissions in Jakarta.

"This policy is in line with KAI's efforts to support sustainability programs and reduce people's dependence on fossil fuel private vehicles," said Anne.

Although the instruction requires ASN to use public transportation, there are exceptions given to employees with certain conditions such as illness, pregnancy, disability, or field officers who require special operational vehicles. Thus, this policy still pays attention to the principles of inclusiveness and justice.

KAI Group also ensures that the Jabodebek Commuter Line and LRT services continue to be equipped with various supporting facilities. In addition to the lactation space and disability-friendly areas, KAI strengthens security through the CCTV analytics system and increases bicycle parking facilities to encourage the integration of environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

"Through the synergy between public transportation operators and local government policies, it is hoped that more people, especially ASN, will switch to the use of public transportation modes in their daily activities," he said.
