JAKARTA - The growth in business activities experienced a slowdown in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the previous quarter.

All of this is reflected in the results of the Business Activity Survey (SKDU) conducted by Bank Indonesia (BI), where the Weighted Net Balance (SBT) grew 7.63 percent or lower compared to growth in the fourth quarter of 2024 which reached 12.46 percent.

Despite the slowdown, the Executive Director of the BI Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, emphasized that the performance of the business world in general is still in a stable and well-maintained condition.

"The performance of a number of Business Fields (LU) was recorded as positive with the highest SBT, namely LU Jasa Keuangan followed by LU Agricultural, Forestry, and Fisheries and LU Trade Besar and Retail, and Car and Motor Repairs," he said in a written statement, Friday, April 25.

According to him, this is in line with the harvest season in the national food barn area as well as increased activity during the Eid Al-Fitr Ramadan and National Religious Holidays (HBKN).

He also revealed that the production capacity used in the first quarter of 2025 was recorded at 73.25 percent, an increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2024 which was 72.91 percent.

Denny said that the increase was mainly driven by LU agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.

Meanwhile, the financial condition of the business world in general also remains in good condition, especially in terms of liquidity and rehabilitability, with easy credit access.

Furthermore, he said respondents estimated that business activities in the second quarter of 2025 would increase with an SBT of 15.35 percent and business activities estimated to increase, mainly from LU Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries.

"This is in line with more favorable weather conditions, the availability of production facilities and storage capacity, as well as maintained demand," he said.
