JAKARTA - Two Trans Sumatra toll roads will soon be charged a tariff in the near future. The two sections, namely Binjai 'Langsa Section 3 (Tanjung Pura' Pangkalan Brandan) are 18.85 kilometers long and the Palembang Ramp 2 (Kayu AgungIndralaya) and Ramp 3 (IndralayaKayu Agung) are 2.46 kilometers long.

The imposition of the toll tariff is based on the Decree of the Minister of Public Works (Kepmen PU) No. 362 of 2025 concerning the Determination of Vehicle Classes and Tariffs for the Binjai Toll Road Section 3 (Tanjung Pura'Pangkalan Brandan) issued on March 10, 2025 and the Minister of Public Works Decree Number 401 concerning the Determination of Types of Motorized Vehicles and Rates of Ramp 2 and Ramp 3 Palembang Toll Tariffs issued March 26, 2025.

"In the near future, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) will immediately impose tariffs on two Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) sections, namely the Binjai 'Langsa Section 3 (Tanjung Pura'Palapan Brandan) and the Palembang Ramp 2 (Kayu AgungIndralaya) and Ramp 3 (IndralayaKayu Agung)," said Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim in a written statement, Wednesday, April 9.

Adjib said the Tanjung Pura Toll Road (Pangkalan Brandan) had previously operated without tariff for more than one month, namely since Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

During this period, he said, the enthusiasm of the community for toll roads in North Sumatra was very high with the number of passing vehicles reaching 161,815 units.

The toll road was proven to have a significant impact when the flow of homecoming and return to Lebaran 2025, especially in facilitating access to and from Kualanamu International Airport and opening strategic connectivity between the northern part of North Sumatra and Aceh Province.

"The presence of this toll road also cut Tanjung Pura's travel time to Pangkalan Brandan from about 1.5 hours to only 30 minutes," he said.

Different from the Tanjung Pura 'Pangkalan Brandan section, said Adjib, Palembang's junction is a new toll road that has never been operated without tariffs. So, this section will be opened immediately and the tariff is set simultaneously.

"This section has a strategic role in integrating the toll-to-ll journey between the Kayu Agung section of Palembang and Palembang Indralaya directly without having to go out to the national road," said Adjib.

The presence of the junction will complement the connectivity of toll roads in South Sumatra and support the smooth running of traffic from and to Palembang City to Prabumulih, especially during peak hours and the national holiday period.

According to Adjib, before being operated, the Ramp 2 (Indralaya) and Ramp 3 (Indralaya 'Kayu Agung) Palembang junctions had been successful through a Functional and Operational Feasibility Test (ULFO) which was carried out on 16-18 December 2024.

The ULFO process involves a thorough examination from the Ministry of Public Works (PU), the Ministry of Transportation and the Indonesian Police, and is fully supported by the Hutama Karya project team which ensures that all aspects of safety and operation are fulfilled properly.

"From the results of the plenary meeting to discuss ULFO, the Palembang Junction section was declared to be operating and succeeded in achieving the highest assessment in the form of 5 stars, as a form of recognition for the readiness of toll infrastructure, services and security," he said.

As for ensuring that the information on the determination of this tariff is fully received by road users, continued Adjib, Hutama Karya will conduct intensive socialization first which includes the amount of tariff, the basis for determining tariffs to the use of electronic money cards.

"We will carry out socialization massively, both through various mainstream and digital media channels, especially local radios in the hope that tariff determinations can run smoothly," he concluded.
