Goods Truck Passes On Toll Roads During Lebaran Homecoming, Minister Of Transportation: Not Prohibited, But Restricted

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi said the government only limits the operation of goods transport trucks during the Lebaran 2025 homecoming period. This means that trucks can still pass by complying with the provisions set by the government.

The restrictions are carried out through limiting the operational time of goods cars with axes 3 or more, goods cars with attached trains, trailers, and goods cars carrying excavated products, mines, as well as building materials.

"We have implemented restrictions on freight transportation from March 24 to April 8. So that is part of our anticipation to overcome the problems of travelers who will cross toll roads," he said in Cikampek, Jakarta, Friday, March 28.

Dudy said that not all operational goods transport trucks are limited. He said, for fuel/BBG transport vehicles, delivery of money, animals and animal feed, fertilizers, handling natural disasters, motorbikes homecoming and return are free, and basic goods can still operate.

Furthermore, Dudy said that the category was excluded from the restriction of 3-axis trucks. However, on condition that it is equipped with a cargo letter of the type of goods.

"The name restriction is not all heavy vehicles, we prohibit it, not prohibitions. So there are heavy vehicles that we allow to pass, such as those that transport raw materials, basic necessities, fuel and there are several other categories that we allow to pass," he explained.

Previously, Plt. Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Ahmad Yani said to ensure safety, security, order, and smooth homecoming and return during Lebaran 2025, the government has regulated operational restrictions on freight transportation.

"The existence of these restrictions does not immediately prohibit the operation of goods transportation at all. Goods transportation can still operate by taking into account several things," he explained.

He said the restrictions were carried out through limiting the operational time of goods cars with axes 3 or more, goods cars with attached trains, trailers, and goods cars carrying excavated products, mines, as well as building materials.

Goods transport companies can distribute using two-axis goods transport vehicles with the number allowed, vehicles operating during discretion from the police, and distribution still prioritizing safety.

"Then related to the procedures for loading, transportation and content, vehicle dimensions, and goods transport documents must also meet technical and roadworthy requirements in accordance with the provisions of the legislation," he said.

For fuel/BBG transport vehicles, the delivery of money, animals and animal feed, fertilizers, handling natural disasters, homecoming motorbikes and return for free, as well as basic goods can still operate and are excluded from the restriction of 3-axis trucks, equipped with a cargo letter of type of goods.

This policy was taken by looking at the data on special events in 2024 which stated that in that year there were 186 incidents dominated by the involvement of trucks of 53 percent. In addition, transporting goods with three axes up has the potential to cause congestion due to its downward speed.

The Ministry of Transportation has taken various strategic steps to maintain the safety and smooth operation of trucks during the Lebaran 2025 period. Strict supervision of vehicles operating, routine checks, and provision of health facilities for drivers will be carried out to ensure that travel can be carried out safely and smoothly.
