This Mall Boss Appreciates The Construction Of Toll Roads In The Jokowi Era, Brings 'Cuan' For Jakarta

JAKARTA - The massive construction of toll roads in the era of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) leadership made DKI Jakarta Province no longer quiet when entering the momentum of Eid. The reason is, currently many vehicles from outside Jakarta are passing through the area.

Chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) Alphonzus Widjaja also appreciated it. Because, it can reduce public spending around Jakarta.

"Usually during Lebaran, Jakarta is quiet. However, I don't think it has happened in the last few years. Because of course we appreciate the government, especially to President Jokowi before," said Alphonzus in his remarks at the 2025 Eid Discount BINA Opening Ceremony in Jakarta, Friday, March 14.

"Many vehicles with non-B police numbers enter Jakarta. So, I think this will indeed increase spending during Eid al-Fitr later," he continued.

He believes that the adequate infrastructure development will attract tourists outside Jakarta and its surroundings.

"So, I think with toll roads and infrastructure that are already good, many people from areas outside Jakarta enter Jakarta," he said.

Thus, Alphonzus hopes that shopping centers in the Jakarta area and its surroundings will be crowded with visitors and sales can increase significantly.

"So I think this is a special note for shopping centers in DKI Jakarta, when Eid is no longer as quiet as before," he concluded.

As for the era of President Jokowi's leadership during the 2014-2024 period, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) succeeded in completing a number of infrastructures to increase competitiveness and support economic growth.

In the field of connectivity, the Ministry of PUPR together with the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) have completed 2,432 kilometers of toll road construction.

It did not stop there, the Ministry of PUPR through the Directorate General of Highways has also completed 5,999 kilometers of construction of new roads, 125,904 meters of bridge construction, 583 suspension bridges and 27,673 meters of flyover/underpass construction.
