Indonesia's Furniture Products Are Interested In The World, IFEX 2025 Records Transactions Of IDR 5.7 Trillion

JAKARTA - Indonesian furniture and handicraft products are increasingly in demand by the international market, which is reflected in direct transactions or on the spot of US$350 million or equivalent to Rp5.7 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,294 per US dollar) at the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2025 exhibition.

This figure is a total direct transaction or on the spot during the exhibition, which takes place from March 6 to 9. The exhibition was held at Jiexpo, Kamayoran, Central Jakarta.

Chairman of the Indonesian Furniture and Crafts Industry Association (HIMKI), Abdul Sobur, said this year's IFEX attracted more visitors than last year. This year, there were 14,507 visitors who attended the IFEX 2025, an increase compared to last year's 13,000 visitors.

Meanwhile, continued Abdul Sobur, the origin of the country was dominated by the European Union in first place followed by China, the United States, Australia, and India.

Abdul Sobur said what was interesting about this new anomaly was the presence of new buyers, including those who had come to Indonesia for the first time.

"This proves that IFEX has succeeded in opening up market opportunities and creating new transaction potential for participants," he said.

Seeing the achievements during these four days, continued Abdul Sobur, HIMKI and industry players are optimistic about the future of the Indonesian furniture and handicraft industry.

"Especially after COVID-19 yesterday, many world furniture exhibitions were closed and this opens up opportunities for us to become an exhibition that international buyers have been waiting for and looking for," said Abdul Sobur.

Throughout 2024, said Abdul Sobur, the furniture sector has made a significant contribution to the national economy, with exports reaching 2.37 billion US dollars. This shows a stable increase from previous years.

"As an event for the meeting of industry players with international buyers, IFEX is the right forum to pave the way for trade partnerships and investment opportunities for industry players," he said.

Meanwhile, President Director of Dyandra Promosindo Daswar Marpaung said that he will continue the success of IFEX 2025, next year this exhibition event will be held again. The plan is to be held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang.

Daswar said this transfer was carried out to accommodate the need for a wider venue that would allow more participants and visitors to attend.

With this strategic step, IFEX 2026 is expected to attract more buyers and international exhibition participants, further strengthening Indonesia's position as a major player in the global furniture market.

"Along with IFEX growth, we are committed to providing world-class platforms for furniture and handicraft industries. Moving to a new venue at ICE BSD in 2026 will allow us to improve experience for exhibiters and buyers, as well as support sustainable industrial expansion," he said.
