KAI Vice President Public Relations, Anne Purba, said the train line was closed on Sunday, March 9, 2025, starting at 05.27 WIB.
The closure was due to the overflowing of the Tuntang River which resulted in the traffic line between Semarang-Surabaya Pasar Turi being flooded.
"High rainfall causes the water discharge of the Tuntang River in Grobogan Regency, Central Java to increase again and overflow to inundate the railway line at kilometer 32 + 6 / 7 between Gubug Station-Gangjati Station," he said in an official statement, Sunday, March 9.
Anne said the impact of the overflow of the Tuntang River, the route between the Gubug Station and Karangjati Station was closed for the safety of passengers and train trips.
The Blora Jaya train from Cepu Station to Semarang Poncol Station and Harina Train from the Pasar Turi Satsiun to Bandung Station are two trains that have been affected and have to be engineered with operating patterns.
