Ramadan 2025, Governor Khofifah Ensures Food Prices In Batu Are Still Stable

BATU - Food prices often increase in the fasting month. However, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, ensured that the prices of vegetables and food in Batu City were still relatively stable at the beginning of Ramadan 2025.

Khofifah, at Among Tani Market, Sunday, said that several commodities that had previously experienced price increases have now gradually dropped.

"Earlier I reviewed at Among Tani Market, and there for basic necessities the average price fell compared to yesterday, such as cooking oil, sugar, and chicken eggs," Khofifah said, quoting ANTARA, March 2.

Khofifah said that cooking oil per day is at Rp. 17 thousand from the previous Rp. 18 thousand per liter. Then the sugar from Rp. 18 thousand to Rp. 17 thousand per kilogram, and chicken eggs Rp. 30 thousand to Rp. 28 thousand/kg.

The price of chicken and beef in the local area, he said, is still in a fairly normal condition.

"Stable chicken meat ranges from Rp34-35 thousand per kilogram at the highest retail price (HET) of Rp40 thousand per kilogram. If beef is stable at Rp120 per kilogram, for HET it is Rp140 per kilogram," he said.

However, he did not deny that the average price of rice was increasing by Rp1,000 per 5 kilograms.

"The rice is an increase in the price of Rp1,000, some are Rp. 71 thousand to Rp. 72 thousand, and the price is Rp. 76 thousand to Rp. 77 thousand," he also said.

Khofifah added that while reviewing the development of food prices at Among Tani Market, Batu City, she received a lot of information from traders related to the limited availability of chili at the beginning of Ramadan.

"I asked the merchant, maybe because it's also Sunday and some are not in supply. Then at the beginning of Ramadan there were those who had not sold," he said again.

However, he confirmed that the price of one of the kitchen materials is currently still relatively stable.

"The price of cayenne pepper at Among Tani Market is still IDR 90 thousand per kilogram, red chili IDR 40 thousand per kilogram, and curly red chili IDR 42 thousand per kilogram," he said again.
