JAKARTA - President Director and Country Chair of Shell Indonesia Ingrid Siburian revealed about the scarcity of fuel that Shell experienced in January to early February.
In front of Commission XII of the DPR RI, Inggird admitted that the Shell gas station network had stock out for all variants of BBM RON 92, RON 95 RON 98 and Solar CN51 since January 2025.
"I can convey the delay because there is a delay in the supply side or supply chain. It is indeed a condition beyond our control," said Inggrid at the General Hearing Meeting (RDPU) with Commission XII of the DPR RI, quoted on Thursday, February 27.
Inggrid explained that his party had submitted details of the 2025 commodity balance to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as the basis for obtaining fuel import approval in September 2024.
After submitting a request for a commodity balance, continued Inggird, his party also addressed the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources regarding the potential for fuel stock vacancies if there was a delay in the supply side.
"We got the Neraca Komnoditas on January 20, 2025 and we got the import approval in January 23, 2025," continued Inggrid.

By the time his party received import approval at the end of January, he said, 25 percent of the Shell gas station network had experienced a stock vacancy in several fuel variants. On the other hand, Shell took at least 20 days to import to distribute fuel to gas stations.
Ingrid explained that Shell managed to carry out the distribution process as quickly as possible and all gas stations could operate normally on February 11, 2025.
"The permit may take a long time from before. Because we have submitted it in September and we obtained approval in January," said Inggid.
