Basuki Suggests Prabowo Give Free Land At IKN For Friends To Build Embassy Offices

JAKARTA - Head of the Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono wants a free land facility for friendly countries to build an embassy office in IKN before 2028. This will be proposed to President Prabowo Subianto.

Basuki said the proposal was made to accelerate the presence of embassy offices for friendly countries in IKN, in line with the plan to move the political capital city of Indonesia which is targeted to start operating in 2028.

"I emphasize that I am not the one who decides. I convey that I will propose to the President as a step to attract them more quickly," Basuki said as quoted from his official statement, Monday, February 17.

With the target of IKN as the political capital in 2028, according to Basuki, foreign embassy offices should have also begun to be built in IKN.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto targeted IKN to become the capital city of Indonesian politics in the second phase of development which is planned to be completed in 2028.

This was conveyed by the Head of OIKN Basuki Hadimuljono after attending a limited meeting with President Prabowo and a number of ministers at the Presidential Palace, Tuesday, January 21.

"He targets IKN in 2028 to become the capital of politics. We are tasked with completing projects for legislative, judicial, and other supporting facilities," said Basuki.

The design of the construction of the legislative and judicial complex, previously designed by the Ministry of PUPR, will be reviewed according to President Prabowo's direction.

"We together with the Ministry of PUPR and OIKN will form a design team to adjust the direction of development in the future," he added.
