Wamenaker Threatens To Police Thug Style Ormas That Disrupt Factory And Investment Operations

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan will report thugs-style Community Organizations (Ormas) that interfere with factory operations and investment in a number of industrial areas to the Indonesian Police (Polri).

"This cannot be tolerated. We will coordinate with the Police. This issue must be the concern of all parties," said Immanuel Ebenezer, Thursday, February 13.

Noel, Immanuel's nickname, assessed that the activities of mass organizations that lead to thuggery can delay business activities in factories and can have an impact on failed investment plans and stagnation of employment.

"If jobs fail to create, we will all lose," continued Noel.

Just so you know, the behavior of thugs-style Ormas stems from the statement of the General Chairperson of the Industrial Estate Association (HKI), Sanny Iskandar. Ormas have often interfered with factory operations, held demonstrations and others. In fact, he said, reports to the security forces also did not provide a deterrent effect.

Noel said, there were many industrial areas that were targeted by thugs-style mass organizations, such as in the Bekasi, Karawang, Batam industrial areas to East Java.

"Losses are not only experienced by existing factories, but hundreds of trillions of investment plans have been canceled due to the actions of thugs," he continued.

Noel said that complaints related to thuggery have been acknowledged by various parties, such as the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, who also often receives the same complaint.

Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin also admitted that the West Java (West Java) Regional Government often received complaints from industry players in the same tone. Bey asked that no more mass organizations/premans interfere with factory operations.

Regarding the failure of investment due to the behavior of thugs, the Deputy for Climate Development and Investment at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, Riyatno, asked prospective investors to discuss with his party to find solutions.

Noel said that with the confessions of several parties regarding the problems complained by the Chairman of the HKI, Sanny Iskandar, no longer being doubted, this did happen. Therefore, the Police must act immediately to find a solution.

"I will meet the National Police Chief, in particular talking about this issue. I am sure that the National Police will respond to complaints from factory friends in industrial areas. This is a matter of the nation's fate," he said.

Noel also emphasized that the state must be present in the midst of industrial estates, namely in the form of investment security.

"If anything interferes with the absorption of labor, it's the enemy of the people, the common enemy," said Noel.
