JAKARTA Indonesia and India have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various strategic sectors, including food security, energy, health and pharmaceuticals, as well as economic cooperation.
Accompanied President Prabowo Subianto in a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto conveyed an invitation to India to increase investment in Indonesia.
The sectors offered include the development of health facilities and services, production of medicinal raw materials through joint ventures, electric vehicles, and downstreaming of critical coal and mineral industries.
As a form of strengthening a comprehensive strategic partnership, the two countries also signed five Memorandums of Understanding (MoU). The MoU includes cooperation in the health, culture, medicine, maritime security and safety sectors, as well as communication and digital.
Airlangga stated that the signing of the five MoUs was in line with the Indonesian Government's vision to achieve the economic growth target of 8 percent.
"With the signing of the MoU between Indonesia and India in strategic sectors, it is hoped that we can encourage national economic growth while strengthening bilateral relations with India," said Airlangga, Tuesday, January 28.
In addition, Airlangga also appreciated India's commitment to maintaining the sustainability of bilateral cooperation that had been established, especially in the economic and investment fields.
