Ahead Of Chinese New Year Celebration, Orders For Character Bakpao In Palembang Laris Manis

JAKARTA - Ahead of the 2576 Chinese New Year celebration, the demand for character tubpao in Palembang City, South Sumatra, has increased significantly. Traders, such as Dessy Pertamasari, admitted that they had received hundreds of orders to meet the needs of customers during this special moment.

"It's been the last two years, every time before the Chinese New Year, character Orders have always increased. For this year alone, we have received hundreds of packages," Dessy said in Palembang, as quoted by ANTARA.

Dessy explained that the character bakpao themes made this time varied, ranging from the writings of Gong Xi Fa Cai, pictures of characters such as koko, cici, mei-mei, to the shape of lanterns, oranges, and sabers.

"In the manufacturing process, we use safe food dyes so that they can be consumed by children. The price of one package of bakpao characters containing six is sold for Rp. 50,000, while the package containing nine is sold for Rp. 80 thousand," he explained.

In addition to offering a ready-to-eat character bappao, Dessy also provides frozen versions for customers from outside the city. This frozen bappao makes it easier to store and deliver, and can last longer.

"Bakpao characters can last up to three to four days at room temperature. However, if stored in the refrigerator, the endurance can reach two to three months," added Dessy.

Dessy revealed that the turnover of the character bakpao business is quite promising, with an average income of Rp. 18 million per month.
