Electric Motor Conversion Program Confirmed To Continue, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Calculates Budget

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has confirmed that it will continue the conversion program of electric motors in 2025.

The Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Eniya Listiani Dewi, said that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is currently preparing a budget for this program.

"Continued. After this, detail the budget," he said, quoted on Friday, January 24.

However, Eniya did not convey the amount of the target for the motorbike to be converted. Eniya is also reluctant to convey the source of the budget that will later be used to fund conversion.

"Not yet (there is a target. But there is definitely a (budget). The value is not yet available," explained Eniya

Previously, in August 2024, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources launched a 1,000-unit free motorcycle conversion program for the people of Jabodetabek.

The provision of free conversion is a collaboration between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources by cooperating with business entities through the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

Eniya said the budget disbursed by the government for the conversion program of 1,000 motorbikes amounted to Rp. 14.8 billion with a subsidy of Rp. 10 million per motorbike.

"Well, this is indeed helped from Rp. 10 million plus CSR. So indeed there is an additional fee of Rp. 10 million plus Rp. 7 million or Rp. 5 million or Rp. 6 million. It varies depending on the type of motorbike," said Eniya, Thursday, August 22, 2024.
