PLN Completes Construction Of PLTMG Luwuk 40 MW

PT PLN (Persero) through the PLN Development Main Unit (UIP) Sulawesi and PLN Enjiniring succeeded in completing the construction of the 40 Megawatt (MW) Luwuk Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG) in Batui, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi.

The presence of this infrastructure will supply electricity needs of more than 30,000 houses and industries of 30 MW in the region.

PLN's New Renewable Project and Energy Management Director, Wiluyo Kusdwiharto said, the completion of the PLTMG project of Luwuk 40 MW is a significant step to ensure reliable and sustainable energy supply for the people of Central Sulawesi, especially Luwuk - Toili and its surroundings.

"The completion of the Luwuk PLTMG project is a big step for us to ensure reliable energy availability for the people of Central Sulawesi. This is our commitment to supporting economic growth and energy sustainability in Indonesia," said Wiluyo, Saturday, January 11.

President Director of PLN Entertainment, Chairani Rachmatullah, revealed that the completion of this project further strengthens the role of PLN Group in supporting the provision of more efficient, environmentally friendly, and affordable energy in Indonesia.

The operation of this plant, continued Chairani, will increase the gas energy mix and is projected to reduce carbon emissions by up to 75,000 tons of CO2 per year.

"We hope that this project can be an example for the development of other environmentally friendly energy projects in Indonesia. PLN Enjiniring is committed to continuing to support equal access to energy and contribute to national economic development through sustainable energy solutions," concluded Chairani.

Daily Executive General Manager of PLN UIP Sulawesi, Budi Ari Wibowo explained, the completion of the Luwuk PLTMG project was marked by the issuance of an Operational LIKE Certificate (SLO) for all engines on December 30, 2024. He also thanked all parties who have supported the development of this electricity infrastructure, both the Government, officials, the private sector, and partners.

"We are very proud to be able to complete the Luwuk PLTMG project which has a strategic role in meeting energy needs in Central Sulawesi. This achievement cannot be separated from the support and collaboration of all parties involved," said Budi.

In addition to the Luwuk PLTMG, PLN has also just completed the construction of three other electrical infrastructures in the Central Sulawesi region. The three infrastructures are the 150 kilovolt Main Substation (kV) Luwuk, the 150 kV Batui Substation (PLTMG), and the 150 kV High Voltage Air Line (SUTT) of the Luwuk (Batui) - Luwuk PLTMG.

Meanwhile, the electricity supply capacity of Central Sulawesi currently reaches 369 MW with a peak load of 336 MW and a power reserve of 33 MW. With the operation of the four electricity infrastructures, it is hoped that electricity supply for the people of Central Sulawesi, especially Luwuk - Toili, will be more reliable.
