JAKARTA - PLN continues to accelerate the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia by adding Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in Central Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.

PLN's Vice President of Corporate Communications Gregorius Adi Trianto emphasized PLN's commitment to encourage the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.

As an energy company, PLN continues to increase the availability of infrastructure to support the presence of electric vehicles.

"As for the additional plan until the end of 2022, PLN will build a total of 110 SPKLU units which are spread out to build national road maps throughout Indonesia. With the availability of SPKLU, people no longer need to hesitate to have electric vehicles because they can charge anywhere," said Gregorius to media, Monday, August 8th.

Gregorius explained that PLN recently provided the first SPKLU in Parepare City.

This SPKLU completes the number of SPKLU units on the Trans Sulawesi road following the growth of electric vehicles in Sulawesi.

This SPKLU in Parepare has medium charging technology with a capacity of 25 kilowatts.

"This SPKLU is in the center of Parepare City, its location is strategic, and it is on the Trans Sulawesi road if you want to travel to other cities," said Gregorius.

Apart from Sulawesi, PLN also operates SPKLU in Central Kalimantan. The first SPKLU in Central Kalimantan is here by offering Fast Charging technology features with a capacity of 50 kilowatts.

This SPKLU can charge an electric car from 20 percent to 100 percent battery in just 45 minutes.

"Efforts to make SPKLU in Indonesia continue to be carried out by PLN. Until July 2022, there have been 142 SPKLU units operating in 109 locations spread throughout Indonesia," said Gregory.

In addition to improving infrastructure, Gregory ensured that PLN's efforts to encourage people to switch to electric vehicles by providing discounted electricity rates.

PLN provides a 30 percent discount on electricity rates for electric vehicle owners who charge electric car batteries through home charging facilities from 22.00 to 05.00 WIB.

PLN has also opened a partnership scheme in the SPKLU business. Considering the potential for SPKLU's business development to grow significantly in the next few years.

As a form of support to encourage the acceleration of the availability of battery charging infrastructure for battery-based electric motor vehicles (KBLBB), PLN opens up opportunities for business entities to collaborate together to become a partnership in providing SPKLU based on the Sharing Economy Model or Investor Own Investor Operate (IO2).
