JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ambassador to Timor Leste in Dili, Timor Leste, Okto Dorinus Manik said that air transportation from Indonesia to Dili City round-trip (PP) was reopened after being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"So actually the entry of Citilink airline to Dili, Timor Leste, is still related to the application of the visa on arrival (VOA) that was imposed some time ago," he said, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 29.

He said that after implementing the VOA, he then challenged several airlines in Jakarta to reopen flight routes from Indonesia to Dili.

Okto explained to the airlines that the existence of VOA provided an opportunity for them to be able to reopen the route because many parties hoped.

"After that, Citilink immediately opened flights back to Dili on June 13 with regular flights twice a week," he said.

For next month, he said, there is one more airline that will open flight routes to the country.

Currently, he added, many charter planes are rented by residents in Timor Leste to fly to Indonesia.
