JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) and the State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia signed an agreement to purchase a renewable energy certificate (EBT) or Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) equivalent to 849 megawatt hour (MWh).

Through this agreement, all presidential palaces in Jakarta, Bogor, Cipanas, Yogyakarta, and Tampaksiring have used electricity from NRE.

It is known that the Bogor Presidential Palace will be the first to subscribe to REC services in March 2022. This will be followed by the Tampaksiring Presidential Palace and Yogyakarta in May and June 2022.

The Head of the General Bureau, the Presidential Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia Erry Hermawan, is also grateful that starting June 1, 2022 yesterday, the entire presidential secretariat environment, from the presidential palace in Jakarta to Tampaksiring has 100 percent used EBT.

"This is to overcome fossil energy which is increasingly limited. In addition, this step will also support green energy to overcome environmental constraints, especially in Indonesia," he said in an official statement, Monday 27 June.

On the other hand, the President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasojo explained, REC is an instrument offered by PLN to customers who need recognition of the use of EBT.

"So PLN's revenue from REC is allocated for the addition of new renewable energy plants to achieve the 2060 Net Zero Emission target," he said.

Recently, Darmawan added, the REC services issued by PLN since November 2020 are increasingly in demand by various customers.

Not only business owners in the business and industrial sectors to meet their export needs, but also attract the attention of managers of public facilities, as well as the public in general.
