Ministry Of Transportation Continues Connectivity Infrastructure Development In 2023

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation is committed to continuing the connectivity infrastructure development program throughout the country in 2023.

"Of course, the development of connectivity infrastructure that is productive and supports regional economic growth has a direct impact on the community", said Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 7.

Budi said the Government Work Plan (RKP) in 2023 had the theme of increasing productivity for an inclusive and sustainable economic transformation.

In this regard, the Ministry of Transportation has contributed to several national priority agendas, including the acceleration of basic infrastructure development, improving the quality of human resources, low-carbon development, and energy transition, and the development of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago.

In 2023, the Ministry of Transportation will continue to open access to transportation in the regions through the provision of subsidies, PSO and pioneering transportation, sea highways, and air bridges.

"We will complete the Makassar - Pare Pare railway project, the construction of the Tanjung Carat Port, and also complete the Phase II Patimban Port, as well as several airports in Sulawesi and Kalimantan which are of concern", he said.

Budi said that the government did not fully use the state budget in implementing these programs.

Due to the financial limitations of the state budget, he said, the government encouraged the implementation of creative funding schemes, both through collaboration with state-owned enterprises and the private sector.

Several strategies will be carried out, namely optimizing the application of non-APBN creative funding through Government and Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) to fulfill transportation infrastructure needs, optimizing Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) through the Public Service Agency (BLU) as an alternative funding source for accelerating infrastructure development.

"We also encourage the involvement of the private sector in accelerating national economic growth, and carrying out structural transformation and digitalization to improve transportation services", concluded Budi.
