JAKARTA - The State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) PT Pembangunan Wisata Indonesia or the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has expressed a commitment to its readiness to host a number of prestigious national and international automotive events until the end of 2022.

Managing Director of The Mandalika, Bram Subiandoro, said that this strategy is also an effort to encourage the recognition of the Mandalika tourism area to foreign countries.

"This is in line with our development goal of making The Mandalika the next world-class destination with the concept of sport tourism, and also one of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) which will provide a multiplier effect for the community," he said in an official statement quoted on Sunday, 15 May.

Bram explained that the implementation of MotoGP then recorded a turnover of more than Rp. 690 billion. This amount is obtained from tourist spending on accommodation rentals and local transportation, purchases of merchandise, purchases of food and beverages, and others.

"We are optimistic that the increasing number of automotive and sporting events will further increase the number of tourists who will visit Mandalika to Lombok Island, NTB as well as encourage the acceleration of tourism recovery in Indonesia," he stressed.
