The Ministry Of Transportation Recommends Palembang To Implement The JakLingko Integration System As Implemented By Anies In DKI

JAKARTA - The Transportation Research and Development Agency recommends that the integration between transportation modes in the city of Palembang can implement an integrated tariff system as implemented by PT Jak Lingko Indonesia.

The Head of the PTPP Center for Intermodal Research and Development at the Ministry of Transportation, Sugiyanto, explained that a number of recommendations related to the transportation system would later be submitted to the Palembang City Government for follow-up.

"We provide existing recommendations, whether implemented or not, which we have recommended, such as the JakLingko system in Jakarta," said Sugiyanto as quoted by Antara, Friday, October 15.

Sugiyanto explained that the research report from the Ministry of Transportation together with stakeholders from Bank Indonesia to academics from Sriwijaya University related to the intermodal integration system in Palembang would soon be completed.

Later, the report will be submitted to the Palembang City Government and the South Sumatra Provincial Government as policy makers.

According to Sugiyanto, the intermodal integrated tariff system that Jak Lingko will immediately implement in March 2022 has the same spirit to be applied in Palembang City, which is to provide convenience in public services using public transportation.

"The integration of the existing transportation systems supports each other, so that they do not stand alone. JakLingko has succeeded in achieving that, from TJ, Komuter, MRT, to LRT, they can become one so that it is easier for the community," said Sugiyanto.

Previously, the Palembang City Government expressed interest in adopting the intermodal integration system implemented by PT Jak Lingko Indonesia on the Jabodetabek transportation network.

Secretary of the Palembang City Transportation Service Agus Supriyanto said transportation integration is needed because Palembang already has complete modes of transportation both on land and on rivers.

"With the JakLingko system, we are very interested, moreover we are trying to integrate many modes. Currently we are still studying the system," said Agus.

Two years earlier, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi also asked Palembang City to be an example of a region that is able to integrate transportation in Indonesia because it already has the most complete transportation modes.

"We want water, land and air transportation in the city of Palembang to be interconnected, so the improvement of facilities and services will continue to be improved, both by the central and local governments," said Budi Karya while reviewing the revitalization of Pier 16 Ilir Palembang as well as distributing life jackets to river transportation users.
