Pertamina Gas Subholding Optimizes Kalija Transmission Network To Provide Natural Gas In Central Java

JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) as Pertamina's Gas Subholding optimizes transmission infrastructure, in order to provide natural gas supply and services in Central Java. One of them is through its subsidiary PT Kalimantan Jawa Gas (KJG), Subholding Gas builds and operates the Kalimantan - Java Phase I (Kalija 1) natural gas transmission pipeline.

The Kalija 1 gas transmission pipe has a diameter of 14 inches along ± 200 km consisting of offshore and nearshore pipelines, as well as Onshore Receiving Facilities (ORF). Throughout 2021, the realization of gas transportation distribution through the Kalija 1 Pipeline is 20.65 BBTUD.

The Kalija pipeline connects a natural gas well owned by Saka Energi Muriah Ltd. in Kepodang (Kepodang Field), to the KJG Tambak Lorok ORF and the Indonesia Power Generation Business Unit - PT PLN in Tambak Lorok, Semarang, Central Java as end users. In May 2021, the construction of the jumperline pipe has been completed from the pipe at the KJG Upstream Meter to the Tambak Rejo Tambak Lorok interconnection pipe (TRTL).

The President Director of KJG, Toto Yulianto explained, after the jumperline was inaugurated at Tambak Lorok, the distribution of natural gas from the Kepodang Field through the Kalija 1 network for Central Java could be more flexible and reliable. Not only to power plants, natural gas distribution will be wider to the industrial sector, Kaligawe SPBG, and Semarang CNG mother station.

At Mother Station CNG Semarang, together with Pertagas Niaga, gas will be compressed into CNG to be traded to the non-pipeline market. Mother Station uses 4 compressors with a capacity of 1,300 m3/hour or the equivalent of 3 BBTUD.

"Jumperline pipes are used to distribute gas for industry by developing distribution pipes from Tambak Lorok to Mangkang and KIK Kendal," Toto said in a written statement, Friday, October 1.

In the industrial sector, natural gas is distributed to the Demak industry including PT Aroma Kopi up to about 2.5 BBTUD. To date, PGN in the Semarang and surrounding areas serves 14 industrial commercial customers, 6 small MSME customers, and 13,700 household customers in the Central Java region. The total distribution of gas is around 17 BBTUD.

In addition, the Tambak Lorok jumperline is also used to support PT Rekind for the commissioning of the Jambaran Tiung Biru Field with a gas requirement of 4 to 8 BBTUD.

Toto continued, this pipeline interconnection will also be useful for optimizing natural gas distribution in Central Java, in particular preparing natural gas distribution lines in industrial areas such as Batang and Kendal.

"KJG fully supports the efforts of Subholding Gas to strengthen the strengthening of natural gas connectivity to be able to provide added value in economic centers in Central Java. If industrial development is more vigorous, it can strengthen regional investment," said Toto.

"The Kalija Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline Network contributes to the provision of alternative energy that is environmentally friendly and useful as an energy source for power generation, industry and reduces dependence on the use of fuel," said Toto.
