JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir has appointed Sharon Florencia, a finalist for 'girls take over' as minister for one day replacing her. The first agenda that Sharon attended was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) and PT Bank BRI (Persero) Tbk regarding Synergy in Agricultural Empowerment and Providing Access to Capital for Indonesian Farmers through the Prosperous Program.

"I would like to thank Mr. Erick Thohir for entrusting me to take over his role today as Minister of State-Owned Enterprises," said Sharon when he started his speech, Thursday, September 30.

In her speech, Sharon conveyed about improving the welfare of domestic farmers. According to him, Food SOEs not only provide financing for farmers, but also provide assistance to the provision of market access and infrastructure. The goal is to increase the productivity of farmers.

"I hope that this collaboration between Pupuk and BRI can really increase farmers' productivity. Not only provide the capital, not only production facilities, but we really guide each part or parts of it. We monitor each other, yes, we It also provides market access for their crops," he said.

Not only that, this woman from Bekasi, West Java also highlighted the issue of people's purchasing power for the production of domestic farmers. According to him, the collaboration between BRI and Pupuk Indonesia through the Makmur program is not only ceremonial, but can also be implemented in the field.

According to Shaon, in this way, the encouragement of the utilization of the production and productivity of farmers can be carried out properly. In fact, he suggested that the two state-owned entities could expand the Makmur program to all corners of Indonesia, both in regional areas to certain communities.

"Of course, this will be an added value for every market participant for the supply chain in which it is also related to the Food Holding SOEs as off takers, and later it is hoped that all these Food SOEs can help each other for us to jointly enlarge the market for farmers so that our SMEs can go to class, of course," he said.

For your information, the Makmur program is an agro solution program that aims to provide intensive assistance and escort to farmers and agricultural cultivation. With this program, farmers get easy access to capital, agro inputs such as fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, cultivation technology control, off taker guarantees, to insurance in case of crop failure.

The Prosperous Program to date has increased the productivity of maize by 42 percent and rice by 32 percent. With this increase, corn farmers' profits were increased by 46 percent and rice farmers by 36 percent.

Meanwhile, the commodities that are the focus of this program are rice, corn, chili, palm oil, cassava, coffee, pepper, cocoa, shallots, sugar cane, tobacco, pineapple, and mangosteen.
