JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Agroniaga Tbk (BRI Agro) officially changed its name to Bank Raya at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS).

President Director of BRI Agro Kasper Situmorang said that the name change was in line with the company's commitment to change its image into a digital bank.

"Along with BRI Agro's 32nd anniversary, we have obtained approval from the shareholders to change our new name to Bank Raya," Kasper said in an online press conference, quoted from Antara, Monday 27 September.

He said that currently BRI Agro is transforming into a digital bank that will serve customers in the economic sector.

"This journey has not just started, but since 2019 where we launched an innovative loan product called Pinang," explained Kasper.

With the launch of Pinang, at that time BRI Agro became the first bank to launch a digital lending product with only 15 minutes to get a loan.

In the future, Kasper said that digitalization in the banking industry will continue to grow, driven by the spread of COVID-19.

"Restrictions on movement during the pandemic encourage banking services to be carried out directly to customers via cellular or website so that a new comfort zone is formed for customers," he added.
