Hotel Occupancy Rate In Cianjur Increases 100 Percent, Impact Of PPKM Easing

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) in Cianjur, West Java, recorded an increase in hotel occupancy rates to reach 100 percent this weekend, which was dominated by guests from Greater Jakarta.

Chairman of PHRI Cianjur, Nano Indra Praja said occupancy began to increase after the relaxation of PPKM was implemented in a number of areas, although Cianjur was still level 4. To anticipate the transmission of COVID-19, strict procedures including vaccination cards must be pocketed by guests who come.

"We have implemented strict procedures, as an effort to help the government in breaking the chain of transmission of COVID-19. Just this week, the occupancy increased, even some hotels belonging to the Cianjur PHRI were fully occupied. Hopefully PPKM will end soon and the economy will return to normal," he said.

Meanwhile, a number of hotel managers in the Puncak-Cianjur area provide special discounts for guests who want to stay, provided they can show proof of a second vaccination letter, not only hotel discounts, including other discounts such as eating and drinking at restaurants and free use of various supporting facilities.

General Manager of Zuri Resort Cipanas, Vallien Isak Waas, said that for this weekend, the occupancy has increased again, which is usually only a few rooms, currently 63 rooms are fully occupied by Monday. He hopes that the improvement will continue, as strict procedures are applied to all guests who come.

"For this week, most guests who come are required to show a card that has been vaccinated at least the first dose, while those who can show the second dose of vaccine will get various discounts, we do this as an attraction for guests who will stay," he said.

He explained, during the implementation of PPKM level 4, just this week, the occupancy rate soared like the previous weekend, where the various requirements imposed for immigrants were quite burdensome, including having to have a COVID-19 free letter.

Even though it has increased, it still requires guests staying at the hotel to comply with the rules applied by the hotel, such as wearing masks, maintaining distance and diligently washing hands, to avoid dangerous viruses. "We hope that various concessions will continue to be given, until the PPKM is revoked," he said.
