JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Muhammad Lutfi said that the National Movement for Proud Made in Indonesia (BBI) #PelangiSulawesi with the theme From Sulawesi to Abroad will focus on digitizing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

According to Lutfi, digitalization is the key in developing the Proud Made Indonesia campaign in the country. Until mid-August 2021, said Lutfi, 15 million MSMEs have joined the digital or online trading platform.

"Of the 15 million MSMEs, more than 7 million are the result of onboarding during the Gernas BBI campaign which was launched in May 2020," he said at the Launching of BBI #PelangiSulawesi, Thursday, August 26.

With this notch, Lutfi is optimistic that in the future he will be able to achieve the target of 30 million MSME business players to be onboarding to digital platforms at the end of 2023.

"Even exceeding the target set," he said.

Furthermore, Lutfi hopes that MSMEs can contribute to the performance of the trade sector and help the national economic recovery. In the second quarter of 2021, the Indonesian economy managed to record positive growth of 7.07 percent year on year (yoy) with a growth in trade sector performance of 9.44 percent.

"In particular, e-commerce transactions during the first semester of 2021 also grew very significantly by 63.4 percent with a transaction value of Rp. 186.7 trillion and it is estimated that by the end of 2021 it will reach at least Rp. 395 trillion," he said.

Meanwhile, from the tourism sector, said Lutfi, the campaign titled #PelangiSulawesi is an event to introduce tourism potential in North Sulawesi, especially Likupang.

"According to the Presidential Instruction, we will also build a culinary and souvenir hawker center in Likupang as a form of support for MSMEs so that they can market their superior products in the tourism area, so that they can help the economy of the Likupang community," he said.
