JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Industry encourages the industrial sector in the country to further improve its competitiveness, starting from the level of production, management, to meeting market requirements.
Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita explained that this strategic step is expected to realize the development of an independent, sovereign, advanced, just and inclusive industrial sector.
According to the Minister of Industry, his party through the Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency (BSKJI) will continue to carry out the function of guiding and supervising standardization so that it is in line with government policy recommendations.
"In order to encourage industry to achieve a competitive advantage, the Ministry of Industry spurs the competitiveness of the national industry through increasing the number of Indonesian National Standards (SNI), simplifying SNI compliance procedures, and strengthening conformity assessment institutions," he said as released on the official website, Wednesday, August 25.
The Minister of Industry added that currently there are 13,651 SNIs recorded, of which 5,062 SNIs are in the industrial sector. The SNI in the industrial sector has been applied by the company as many as 123 mandatory SNIs and 364 voluntary SNIs.
"Specifically in 2021, we have set 3 mandatory SNIs in the industrial sector. We have also discussed 85 draft SNIs so that they are expected to be able to encourage the competitiveness of the national industry in the domestic and global markets,” he said.
As for the development of the green industry, so far the Ministry of Industry has set 28 Green Industry Standards (SIH). In addition, as many as 37 industrial companies have been certified in the green industry. Industrial development through these green industry principles is the mandate of Law No. 3 of 2014 concerning Industry.
"With the implementation of the green industry, the industry will operate effectively and efficiently, carry out a clean production process through efforts to reduce, reuse, reprocess, and restore the production value chain which at the global level is known as the circular economy concept," concluded the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang.
