JAKARTA - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk or BTN recorded business growth of 19.87 percent in the second quarter of 2021 and pocketed a net profit of IDR 920 billion compared to the first quarter of 2021 which reached IDR 768 billion.

President Director of Bank BTN Haru Koesmahargyo said that the net profit achievement was supported by the growth of subsidized public housing loans (KPR).

"Bank BTN has implemented various strategies ranging from efficiency, digitization, downsizing outlets, to increasing fee-based income through non-credit transactions. With these various steps, Bank BTN's net profit grew at the level of 19.87 percent yoy to Rp920 billion in the quarter II," he said at a virtual press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 28.

Haru said the company continues to carry out transformations and innovations so that the business can continue to run positively even in the midst of a pandemic. The positive role of the government through the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program also contributed to the positive performance of Bank BTN. Then, the company also projects that the restructuring will continue to show a downward trend until the end of 2021.

"We continue to provide restructuring facilities to reduce the burden on debtors during this pandemic. However, we observe that the trend of restructuring proposals continues to decline even though the PPKM is extended," he said.

In the second quarter of 2021, Bank BTN recorded growth in lending and financing of 5.59 percent on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) from Rp. 251.83 trillion to Rp. 265.9 trillion. This growth was recorded to be well above the national banking industry average.

Data from Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that the credit growth of the national banking industry only grew by 0.45 percent yoy as of June 2021. Subsidized Home Ownership Loans (KPR) are still the main motor driving Bank BTN's lending with an increase of 11.17 percent yoy to Rp126.29 trillion per second quarter of 2021.

Meanwhile, non-subsidized mortgages also grew slowly at the level of 0.90 percent yoy to Rp80.59 trillion. Non-residential consumer loans also recorded an increase at the level of 17.47 percent yoy to Rp5.43 trillion in the second quarter of 2021.

Furthermore, Haru said, with a positive performance in credit, it will also have an impact on the growth of third party funds (DPK). Until the first half of this year, BBTN recorded an asset position of IDR 380.51 trillion, an increase of 20.95 percent yoy from IDR 314.60 trillion in the same period last year.

"For us, positive and sustainable growth is our priority, especially in facing various challenges in the future," he explained.
