JAKARTA - The Surakarta City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) stated that the extension of the implementation of the emergency community activity restrictions (PPKM) until July 25, 2021, should not shut down the business sector.

"This is indeed a difficult situation, on the one hand the main priority is that the pandemic must be overcome, at least brought down, but on the other hand for business actors, this is quite difficult," said Executive Director of Kadin Surakarta David R Wijaya, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 21. .

Therefore, in the extension of the emergency PPKM, it is hoped that the government will be wiser in implementing it.

"For example, it is more about tightening health protocols, rather than closing the road because this is very difficult for business actors, such as the distribution of goods and the traffic of people," he said.

He also appreciated that the extension of the emergency PPKM was not carried out until the end of July but only until the end of this week.

According to him, through the extension step, the results will be more visible, especially in terms of the rate of COVID-19 cases.

"If it is up to July 20, there is a pretty good trend for COVID-19 cases. If it is not extended, it will be difficult to measure it. That's why this is only done until July 25," he said.

Meanwhile, he believes that if the government takes a persuasive approach to the community, the policy will succeed.

"I have a thought, if PPKM is carried out properly, the results will also be good," he said.

On the other hand, he said, public awareness is needed to be willing to change behavior by prioritizing health protocols.
