Don't Panic, Bank Indonesia Raises Cash Withdrawal Limits At ATMs During Emergency PPKM

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia has set a temporary adjustment to the maximum nominal value of funds for cash withdrawals through ATMs that use chip technology.

Head of the Bank Indonesia Communications Department, Erwin Haryono, said this policy was effective from July 12, 2021, to September 30, 2021.

"This step was taken to support the government's policy regarding the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to suppress the rate of COVID-19", he said as reported by the official website, Thursday, July 8.

In detail, Erwin explained that the maximum nominal value of funds for cash withdrawals through ATMs increased from IDR 15 million to IDR 20 million per account in one day for ATM cards that use chip technology.

Keep in mind that the increase in this maximum value only applies to ATMs with chip technology.

"In this case, Bank Indonesia has urged banks to publish to the public a list of ATM locations that can make cash withdrawals with new limits", he said.

Furthermore, Erwin ensured that the central bank would continue to coordinate and synergize with the government and relevant authorities including industry associations in taking collective steps to monitor, assess, prevent, and mitigate the implications of the spread of COVID-19.

“Bank Indonesia invites the public to always implement health protocols by enforcing the 6M, namely wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, limiting mobility, and avoiding eating together. And using non-cash payments/QR Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS)", concluded Erwin.
