JAKARTA - A number of traders of sacrificial animals in the Tangerang Regency, Banten complained about the lack of livestock buyers for Eid al-Adha 1442 Hijriah due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"When we talk about the differences from previous years, the buyers are definitely very different. Now it is very difficult to sell 2 tails in a day," said Darmansyah (50) one of the traders for sacrificial sheep from Cisoka District, Tangerang Regency, quoted from Between, Thursday 8 July.

He said, apart from the COVID-19 pandemic, the lack of buyers, was also caused by the implementation of an emergency Community Restriction Enforcement (PPKM) which took place from 3-20 July 2021.

"To be honest, at this time it is very, very influential on our sales. Especially now that PPKM is emergency," he said.

He admitted, usually in a week approaching Eid al-Adha there are many requests from customers. However, until now there are still few buyers.

So, he continued, the sale of the sacrificial animals decreased drastically, reaching 60 percent.

"Usually, within 10 days approaching Lebaran, 30 of them can be sold out and we can start shopping again. Now only a few have been sold," he said.

Likewise, a cattle trader from the Cikupa sub-district, Husen (61), said that since the past week, the purchase of sacrificial animals in his stall has been relatively quiet.

He admitted, currently only one tail has been sold. While the other 6 tails have not been sold.

"Today only one has been sold, the remaining 7 have not been sold," he said.

He revealed that for one cow, he sells at a price of Rp. 20 million to Rp. 30 million per head. However, the amount of the price varies according to the weight or quality of the sacrificial animal.

"From the selling price, it varies, depending on the type and weight. We have not dared to increase the price, especially in this condition," he said.

He hoped that with these conditions and situations, the spread of COVID-19, especially in the Tangerang Regency area, would immediately decrease and be controlled. So that the income of traders can return to normal as before.

"Hopefully this corona virus will disappear soon, because we (traders) are having a lot of trouble," he said.
