JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) is said to be paying hospital bills for the treatment of COVID-19 patients worth a total of IDR 2.69 trillion today, Monday 5 July or Tuesday 6 July.
This assurance was conveyed directly by the Director General of Budget of the Ministry of Finance Isa Rachmatarwata during a virtual meeting with Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
"Today or tomorrow, God willing, the Ministry of Health will be able to disburse it," he said, Monday, July 5.
According to Isa, the government has accelerated the payment process to hospitals to ensure services to patients are maintained.
"We are still doing this process (disbursement of funds) on weekends," he said.
On this occasion, Isa also revealed that the government had previously paid hospital claims of Rp. 14.53 trillion for more than 200,000 patients in 1,575 COVID-19 referral health facilities throughout 2020.
In addition, it was also stated that last year's arrears which were transferred for collection in 2021 had been fulfilled by Rp. 6.1 trillion.
"This (2020 arrears payment) although it is still a BPKP audit, it will not be an obstacle to paying off," he added.
Meanwhile, for the bill for the 2021 period, which totals Rp. 10.6 trillion, it is said that Isa has been paid in full by the government.
"As of June 30, 100 percent has been done (paid)," he said.
Meanwhile, in entering the second semester of 2021, the government has allocated a budget for treating COVID-19 patients of IDR 11.97 trillion.
